We like to introduce one of the best political cartoonist around the globe. Mr Angel Boligán Corbo. Mr Corbo is a Cuban based in Mexico on his favorite job. Caricaturist in a daily.

 

Political cartooning needs a deep understanding of global affairs. His clarity on politics is reflected well in his lines. His understanding of Imperialism, consumerism and globalization is worth noting.

Angel Boligán Corbo

Born on May 10, 1965, in San Antonio de los Baños, La Habana, Cuba.

Graduated as Plastic Arts Instructor in La Habana (1987).

He cultivates all branches of graphical humor, in which he has obtained 50 prizes and mentions (Cuba), 5 in (Mexico) and 18 international, they include:

 

  • 3rd Prize in the VIII International Biennial of Humor and Satire in Arts, celebrated in Gabrovo, Bulgaria (1987).

  • Prize awarded by group CINÉFILO in the XI International Exhibition of Sport Humoristic Design, celebrated in Ancona, Italy (1991).

  • 1st. Special prize in General Humor and four Prizes in the IX International Biennial of Humor, celebrated in Cuba (1995).

  • 2nd. Prize in Personal Cartoon in the X International Biennial of Humor, celebrated in Cuba (1997).

  • 2nd. Prize in General Humor and 3rd. in Personal Cartoon in the XI International Biennial of Humor, celebrated in Cuba (1999).

  • 1st. Prize in the II Portocartoon World Festival celebrated in Oporto, Portugal (2000).

  • Honorary Mention in the 1st Cartoonnet Festival, 1st International Cartoon Contest on the Net, summoned by Fanofunny, Italy (2000).

  • National Prize of Journalism awarded by the Club of Journalists of Mexico as acknowledgement for his drawings published during 1999, in the El Universal newspaper in Mexico (December 2000).

  • 2nd. Prize in General Humor, 3rd. in Personal Cartoon and two special Prizes in the XII International Biennial of Humor celebrated in Cuba (2001).

  • Honorary Mention in the III Portocartoon World Festival celebrated in Oporto, Portugal (2001).

  • National Prize of Journalism on Altruism granted by the Foundation for the promotion of Altruism, I.A.P. for his drawings published on this subject in the El Universal newspaper during 2000, Mexico (2001).

  • 3rd. Prize and Honorary Mention in the IV Portocartoon World Festival celebrated in Oporto Portugal (2002).

  • Prize ALCALDIA OF RIONEGRO in the IX International Festival of Cartoon RICARDO RENDON Rionegro, Colombia (2002).

  • National Prize of Journalism JOSE PAGES LLERGO awarded by the foundation with the same name and the SIEMPRE magazine, for his drawings published during 2002 in the El Universal newspaper, Mexico(Dec.2002).

  • 1st Prize in the III international Hall ECOCARTOONS summoned by the Catolica University, Peru Lima (2003).

  • The Great Prize in the XIII International Biennial of the Humor celebrated in Cuba (2003).

  • Mention for being Finalist in the National Prize of Journalism awarded by the Citizen Commission, Mexico (May 2003).

  • Honorary Mention in the VI Portocartoon World Festival celebrated in Oporto, Portugal (2003).

  • Honorary Mention in the X International Cartoon Festival RICARDO RENDON Rionegro, Colombia (2003)

  • Member of the International Union of Caricaturists CAGLECARTOONS, Inc.

  • Member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (U.N.E.A.C)

He lives in Mexico since 1992, and holds Mexican citizenship. He works at the El UNIVERSAL newspaper as Editorial and Illustrative Caricaturist.
